Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under GDPR and UK GDPR.

Last updated: July 6, 2026

1. Who we are

Independent EURO 2028 Fan Guide operates https://euro2028fan.com as an independent, non-commercial fan project. We are not affiliated with UEFA, the four host federations, or any official EURO 2028 organiser. Contact: contact@euro2028fan.com.

2. What we collect

We use two analytics tools and — when consent is given — third-party affiliate and advertising cookies.

  • Plausible Analytics (self-hosted at analytics.euro2028fan.com): page views, referrer, country, device type. Cookieless. IP addresses are hashed and never stored in raw form.
  • Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-2DLM8LGTHR): page views, session duration, general geolocation, device, browser. Uses cookies. IP anonymisation enabled.
  • Affiliate cookies (Booking.com, GetYourGuide, Trainline, Hostelworld, Airalo, Saily, SafetyWing, EKTA, Wise, Revolut): set only when you click an affiliate link. Third parties process this data under their own privacy policies.
  • Advertising cookies (Google AdSense — planned): personalised advertising when you consent via the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time.

3. Why we use it

Analytics data helps us understand which content is useful to fans and how they arrive here. Affiliate cookies allow partners to credit us a commission when you book through a link — this funds the site. Advertising cookies, if you consent, allow us to display content-relevant ads.

4. Your rights under GDPR / UK GDPR

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access — request a copy of your data
  • Right to rectification — correct inaccurate data
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Right to restrict processing
  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing
  • Right to withdraw consent for cookies at any time (cookie banner)
  • Right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority

5. Cookies and consent

Plausible does not set cookies. Google Analytics 4 sets analytical cookies. Affiliate cookies are set only after you click an affiliate link. Advertising cookies (planned) are set only after you consent via the cookie banner (IAB TCF v2.2). You can manage all preferences from the cookie banner accessible via the footer.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell your data. Analytics providers (Plausible, Google) and affiliate partners process data under their own privacy policies. Hosting is provided by Cloudflare (Workers + Static Assets). We do not transfer data outside the EEA/UK except through these standard cloud providers, which use Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. Data retention

Plausible retention: indefinite (aggregated, non-personal). Google Analytics 4: 14 months maximum. Affiliate cookies: as set by the third party (typically 30 days). We retain no personally identifiable information on our own servers.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as our practices or the law change. Material changes will be announced on the homepage. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Contact contact@euro2028fan.com with any questions.
