Principality Stadium
Wales' national stadium in central Cardiff with a fully retractable roof.
Principality Stadium is a multi-purpose national stadium in the very heart of Cardiff, owned and operated by the Welsh Rugby Union. Opened in 1999 as the Millennium Stadium, it is best known for its fully retractable roof — one of only a handful of fully covered stadiums in Europe at this capacity — which allows night matches and concerts to be staged in any weather. For EURO 2028 the pitch will be converted to a football-specific layout and the stadium is expected to host four group-stage matches as Wales' sole host venue. The ground is unusual for a major stadium in that it sits directly in the city centre, within a five-minute walk of Cardiff Central station.
